Boca Negra Canyon

Boca Negra Canyon, located in Albuquerque, NM, is a great hiking area for those who want to view petroglyphs. There are three self-guided trails, (Mesa Point, Macaw, and Cliff Base) where you can view approximately 100 petroglyphs. Combined walking time is approximately 1 hour. Although each trail is very short, they vary in difficulty. The canyon is owned, staffed, and managed by the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division and is located in the Taylor Ranch neighborhood. There is a $2 parking fee on weekends and a $1 parking fee on weekdays. If you’re looking for an easy and convenient place to hike in Albuquerque, Boca Negra Canyon is a great option.
